Voices from this residency

Description

Following the experience held in February 2026 around the Andean cross festivities in Chavín de Huántar, this second residency goes deeper into the territory and its cultural expressions, turning its focus to one of the most intense and least explored celebrations in the region. The invitation is to take part in the Fiesta Patronal de San Miguel de Chinchurajra. This hamlet, home to barely ten families, hosts one of the largest religious festivities in the Callejón de Conchucos, and quite possibly in the entire region. During these days, more than 30 pachacas (varied dance troupes coming from different provinces and even other regions) converge around the miraculous San Miguelito de Chichurajra, giving rise to an extraordinary display of costumes, music, rituals and forms of Andean religiosity. Guided by Puttutu Expediciones and photographer Tomás Munita, the residency offers a documentary immersion that combines observation, authorial mentorship and collective reflection, in a setting of intense visual and cultural richness.
